Baveno

Baveno, a charming lakeside town of Roman origin, is a renowned tourist and holiday destination, known for its mineral-rich waters and its famous pink granite quarries.

The characteristic lakeside promenade offers visitors splendid views of the Borromean Islands, which can also be easily reached by boat from Baveno harbour.

The town boasts elegant architecture, renowned hotels, residences, campsites and prestigious 19th-century villas. Among these are Villa Henfrey-Branca, which hosted Queen Victoria of England, and Villa Fedora, once owned by the celebrated composer Umberto Giordano and now home to the Chamber of Commerce of Verbano Cusio Ossola. In honour of the composer, the Umberto Giordano Festival takes place every year in July: a fifteen-day event dedicated to music in all its forms, as well as poetry and literature.

Baveno is also famous for the historic charm of the Parish Church of Saints Gervasius and Protasius, one of the most distinctive landmarks in the historic centre.

Just 3 km from Baveno lies the village of Feriolo, overlooking the Borromean Gulf. Its colourful houses, lined up along the shore, and the picturesque boats moored on the lake create a particularly enchanting atmosphere. The Feriolo lakeside promenade is one of the most characteristic on Lake Maggiore: beaches, rustic houses and small balconies overlooking the water add to its charm, creating an ideal setting for a pleasant stroll and moments of relaxation.
