Orta Lake

The Lake Orta area, with its long-standing tourist tradition, is appreciated for the peaceful beauty of its landscapes, the charm of its history and the wealth of its artistic heritage, particularly its Romanesque and Baroque architecture.

Orta San Giulio is one of the must-see destinations in the VCO area, with the enchanting Island of San Giulio directly opposite the village.

A particularly beautiful panoramic viewpoint is the Sacro Monte of Orta, a devotional complex built between the end of the 16th and the beginning of the 17th century and located within the Special Nature Reserve of the same name. The complex can be reached on foot along an uphill road starting from Piazza Motta.

Other places of particular interest include Pettenasco, with its medieval houses; Omegna, with the sports and bathing facilities at Bagnella; Gozzano Lido; Vacciago, home to the Calderara Collection of Contemporary Art; the Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso, offering a splendid panoramic view; and the Buccione Tower.
