Stresa

Description

Stresa is one of the most prestigious and exclusive destinations on Lake Maggiore.

The true heart of the town is its lakeside promenade: an elegant avenue lined with lush gardens and overlooking the magnificent panorama of the Borromean Gulf, framed by splendid 19th-century villas and refined Baroque and Art Nouveau hotels.

The centre of Stresa, which develops around Piazza Cadorna, is filled with shops, cafés and restaurants, where visitors can still experience the elegant atmosphere of the Belle Époque.

Today, Stresa is a prestigious venue for conferences and major international events, including the Stresa Music Weeks, which bring the town to life during the summer months of July and August with concerts and outstanding musical performances.

One of the main tourist attractions is Villa Pallavicino, a magnificent park covering more than 16 hectares and home to over 40 species of animals from different parts of the world, as well as beautiful gardens and scenic paths surrounded by nature.

Just a few kilometres from the town lies Mottarone, which, at an altitude of 1,492 metres, offers spectacular 360° views of the Alps and Lake Maggiore. It is also an ideal destination for nature lovers and hiking enthusiasts, thanks to its many trails immersed in greenery.

In the Alpino area, visitors can enjoy breathtaking views over Lake Maggiore and explore the Alpinia Botanical Garden, a green oasis home to numerous alpine and mountain plant species.

Next to the chairlift is Alpyland, a 1,200-metre-long alpine coaster where you can enjoy an adrenaline-filled experience, racing through bends and downhill sections while taking in the spectacular views of Lake Maggiore.
