Verbania

Verbania, the main tourist resort on Lake Maggiore, was created in 1939 through the merger of the municipalities of Intra and Pallanza and also includes the charming villages of Suna and Fondotoce. It is an elegant town, rich in hotels, historic villas with beautiful gardens, botanical gardens and an important cultural heritage.

Among the places not to be missed is the Museo del Paesaggio, which houses one of the most significant collections of paintings and sculptures from the Verbano area.

The Botanical Gardens of Villa Taranto, located in Pallanza, are the town’s most famous attraction. They are home to thousands of botanical species from all over the world and offer spectacular blooms throughout the season.

The Pallanza lakeside promenade is one of the most picturesque places in Verbania, offering magnificent views of Lake Maggiore and the Borromean Islands. During August, the lakeside comes alive with the Ferragosto celebrations, including the traditional Palio Remiero rowing competition and a spectacular fireworks display.

Intra is the town’s lively commercial centre. Strolling through its streets, it is a pleasure to stop at one of the many cafés, relax along the lakeside or enjoy some shopping in the boutiques and shops of the historic centre. Every Saturday morning, the traditional weekly market takes place, one of the largest and most popular in the area.
